Driver side door switch issues
Hey, so on my 98 xj the driver window had issues awhile back, got the regulator changed, then it was winter, after a few months of not using it realy i used a a couple weeks then wouldn't always go back up.
Finally got it up and just left it up.
Then realized my door lock won't work sometimes.
I try to lock it, no sound, unlock only, try again, nothin
so i replaced the switch panel.
Worked for a day, then same thing.
Sometimes it locks and unlocks, then it won't.
Now, here is why I'm making a new thread vs search,
every single time it does this, i can reach across and flip the passenger lock back and forth a few times, and without fail, it makes the driver side work again.
For like a year now.
But i'm sick of it.
I know I read somewhere that a guy said the one on the passenger side is more of the brain or mother control or something, that the problem could actually be coming from that one.
is the true?
any other ideas?
i would think if it's bad wires in my door, that by flipping the passenger locks wouldn't make the driver side work all the sudden?
Whats up

Yes, power for the door locks first pass through the passenger side lock/window module, then back through the A pillar and over to the driver side. Section 8w-61 in the FSM shows the layout.
I wouldn't rule out wires in the door or those that transit the A pillars (both sides) until you get the switch out and check.

X2 on this, exactly the same scenario here as the OP, That big rubber grommet on the drivers door on the XJ pulls out from the bottom and the sharp sheet metal of the door slices all those wires up badly. I patched them up and everything works
