Default Driver Door doesnt Seal. Car Washes Impossible. Bigger rubber lining?

my driver side door on my 2 door 99 XJ says just a tiny bit. It isn’t noticeable when looking at the door, but sucks when it comes to water and noise. When driving, you can see a gap between the door and the rubber seal. Cutting the door off to re align seems like overkill. Is there an oversized rubber liner I can use to close the gap.

Right now now I have to fold and jam a towel in the gap to wash the car, or tons of water goes spraying in. The road noise sucks too.

any suggestions on quick fix appreciated.

Cheers!

Replace the hinge pins so it doesn't sag or adjust the door in some. Or the seal may need to be replaced.

Not simple because it's hard to get at. The hardest part is doing it without scratching and scraping the surrounding areas. I have also read where some people will stuff a piece of rope inside the door seal.

I have a two door that had the same problem.
Unfortunately this is an all to common problem in the two doors, and the hinge starts to rip away from the "A" Pillar steel frame.
We just bought a door hinge brace (pair) from Hooligan Off Road to repair this, hopefully this will fix it, and the hinges will never come apart from the frame again. One word of caution with Hooligan Off Road however. They SUCK at customer service, and we had to put in a claim to paypal before they shipped us our braces.
They are really nicely made however soooooooo?
There is another XJ fabricator that makes this kinda thing. They are T&M Fab https://www.t-mfab.com/store-3/?model_number=xjmjhb

Interesting, but I do think my issue is just the pin. It seems to have movement in the pin area, and not the hinge itself. I'm going to have to bribe somebody to do that work. Watched some videos, looks nightmare.

Top of door not sealing could be a couple of things. As mentioned, worn hinges allowing door to angle downward, split sheetmetal around hinges. Wind grabbing door and hyper-extending it outward which distorts fitment.
Also, if locked out of jeep the driver door is usually where access is attempted. Wedges are placed between top of door and cab to spread open door top for coathanger or whatever. Wedge it too far and door will be bent/distorted.

To help figure it out, with door near closed, lift up on bottom of door while watching where the play/slop is.
Old gaskets can become permanently compressed, this is when a piece of rope tucked into gasket can remedy the issue.

Before I put new hinges in mine I bought some flat foam weatherstrip at home depot. It is fairly thin so I put it along the top edge of the door so when it closed it mated up to the stock door seal. It took care of the problem until the door hinge was replaced.

Guh, I'm thinking weather stripping as well.

Here are the door closed photos I promised a while back:

1/4 polyester rope at walmart. tuck it under the weatherstripping allaround the door.

Yup, I used some rope I got from the marine supply store around me. Worked fantastically and I haven't touched it since I put it in, stays put for the most part.

Got tired of getting rained on
