im wondering if i can use 97 and up doors on my 91 xj. its a 2 dr. also the whole dash from the newer style.

 

You can, its not a bolt-on swap though, the hinges and striker bolts are different 97-up than pre-97. As for the dash, I've heard it can be done but is a huge PITA. The newer center console is apparently easier to swapin than the whole dash(go figure). I like the newer style dash and would like some 97-up doors because they don't have the wing windows but its not worth the hassle to me.

 

I my self like the wing windows. But I'm a smoker, And grow up when wing windows where common place. I believe there is a way to remove them. And replace the glass with newer (wingless) version. It was done all the time on old VW Bugs. (the SoCal look it was called) Also on 40's & 50's customs, Hot rods. Check the internet for window conversions kits.

 

you dont need a conversion kit. i got wing windows from the jy and replaced my non wing windows with them. its really easy.

 

I think he's talking about getting rid of the wing windows all together. the 97-up 2doors don't have wing windows at all. the pre-97 XJs have wing windows that either do or don't open
