Default doors?

i have a 98 xj 4 door. and i need 2 doors for the driverside. do they have to come from a 97 or newer, or can i use the older style? i know the older had the little wing window, and they wouldnt match. but as long as it would bolt on and close.

all the junk yards around me have doors for 96 and older xj's for $50. and anyone with newer ones, seem to want $125 a door.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with a 100% right answer but I am pretty sure they will. You can change your mirror and door panel over from the newer doors if you have them.

well i have read on here a number of times about people swapping on newer doors to older XJs to get rid of the wing window... SO i don't see why not.

i kinda want doors with the wing windows that really open, i know there was a couple years that did that.

97+ use a different latch. The pre96- use a single "bolt-style" to keep the door closed. The 96+ use a "d-ring/hoop" style latch. The 97+ doors are better anyways.
