Default Door Stop Removal?

I have a need to open 1 of my rear passenger doors a bit wider and would like to know if anyone has done this and/or are there any adverse issues to doing this. I assume l can accomplish this by removing the pin from the aluminum stop, that slides within the door when closing (see photo), but not sure how much additional opening I will get and if something bad I am not seeing will happen. Thanks.

I do it every time I remove my doors. Just tap the pin out with a hammer. If you want to remove it permanently unscrew the part in the door.

It's easy to remove but it won't let you open the door more. If you look at the hinge you can see that the hinge itself is what limits how far it can open.

My wife was in a car accident a few years ago that put her in a wheel chair for a few months (shattered her pelvis). In order to get her in and out easier I removed that arm and took a grinder to the hinges, I was able to cut off the stops on the hinges with the door still on. I've been driving it daily like this since and haven't had any issues.

Sorry to hear about your wife, this sounds hopeful I'll check it out and see if I can't scare up a grinder. Thank you.

Thanks, she's fine now. You might be able to get at it with a sawz-all but a grinder would be much easier.

Mission accomplished, thanks STHON. I used this little project as an excuse to buy an angle grinder which I have been wanting. As you mentioned, I was able to cut off the stops on the hinges and take the arm between the door and pillar off. The door opens plenty wide as I had hoped.
