Door light
In the colder months my 1999 XJ has a habit of the back door light coming on when it is just sitting. I will open the back door and close it and it will go away. When it is acting up like this it will turn off if car is on and doors are closed but you open just the drivers door and it comes back on. Any ideas?

I have a 98 and if you push on the lens it turns it on and off. Not sure if yours is like that or if it is and you click it off does it still come on?

Could be a short. Jeeps are notorious for wiring issues. Check around door jambs where wires feed thru the rubber boots. Might be worth starting at the drivers door, just cause thats the door that gets used most.. Or the problem door, whichever.. Have you inspected the overhead light for corrosion/wiring issue?

Oh, I see you guys I just didn't describe it well enough. The light that comes on is the back door open indicator light in the dash.
