hey yall door lower door hinge is broken and im curious as to what im gonna need to do to fix it any pointers appreciated, thanks ahead of time

 

hinge broke or weld on body broke?

 

if the weld on the body broke you while just have to weld in on but get it in the right spot or else it will ruin your doors alignment

 

i thought that the door hinges were put on with a putty (glued)...at least that is what the stuff looks like around the hinge mount. you can crack off the old crap with a hammer and flat screw driver. then clean it up and find a little local shop to weld it up for you or JB Weld it (about the same as stock)

 

no its not the welds its the hinge its self, the welds to the body look fine even at that im gonna throw some extra weld on there just incase, but it dont look like i can weld the hinge where its broken, its broken right down along the hinge pin

Did you ever fix your hinge pin? Mine is a 1989 and I'm trying to find how to replace the pin. The pin looks like a folded piece of steel so its bound to wear out quickly! Anyone replace there early XJ (1980's to 1993) hinge pins?

 

You will have to cut the pin with a dremel. Dorman Industries sells replacement pins & bushings thru parts stores.
