Hey guys,
My door check pin, the little bolt that connects the body to the door and keeps it from swinging wide open, is gone and i am not sure how to fix it and replace it.
Help?

I plan to do that for the replacement pin. My real issue is that the door check "arm" that extended inside the door is nearly impossible to link back up to the link. The link and the "arm" are joined by the pin. but they are nearly impossible to rejoin...

You can get the pin in the help section at Oreilly auto parts. #38439.They come 4 to a pack). Make sure your check arm is not broken also.
Pliers to pull it back into the extended position. Then just drop a new pin in. Or bolt. Or nail.. Whatever's clever.

Thanks all. Does anyone know about how far the check arm will extend using pliers? For me its only about 4 inches which doesnt help. Also, everytime I try to close the do to realign the arm with the link, the arm shifts. ???
Thanks again
Thanks again
The problem is the bore in the bracket wallows out and then the pin won't stay in. I tried to replace the pin with a 6mm bolt, but due to the slop in the bracket, and the check arm spring, the door would "POP" every time I closed it. It's a real attention getter in parking lots as everyone looks around to try and figure out WTH that noise was. Save yourself the headache, for about $20 shipped go to Morris 4X4 and order the check pin & bracket. If you are really on a budget swap the whole setup from one of the rear passenger doors to the front.

To the OP, your door check aounds like its either not bolted in or trashed. I would head to the nearest pick and pull that has some XJs and pull the entire door check and bracket from a smoothly working door. Either side front is fine. It'll cost you like five bucks. Then stop by Advance Auto on your way home and buy a new pin.

If the arm isn't extending should I just assume its trashed? Its like 60 bucks to replace the arm from all online stores :/ i was considering removing the door panel to inspect it...
Put that in ten years ago, haven't had any trouble since!

A new new door check(25523571AB) is not cheap, probably $50-$60. The front and rear are different lengths. check the JY first. From the narrative in this post, I believe yours is broken.
