Donor wont stay running
Hello Everyone,
Just picked up the Donor for my 2WD and before doing the swap I wanted to test the tranny and TC.
The problem is the XJ won't stay on. It will start (after more than normal cranking time) and idle very low. As soon as I put it in gear and slightly press on the gas it dies.
I read through the idle problem threads but didn't see one that would die when pressing the gas pedal.
Thanks for the Help.

Have you put fresh fuel in it?

You could try Seafoam...Slowly run about half a can through the vacuum line from the brake booster and shut it off for an hour to let it soak and soften up any gunk in the fuel system. Pour the rest of the can into your gas tank. When you start up the engine again you are going to smoke out the whole neighborhood so be prepared. The smoke is normal, it's the gunk burning out of the system. Just let it run till the smoke stops.
Hope this helps...

I ran into a problem like this a few years back, it seemed to run fine, a little on the low side but the second you put it in gear it just quit. It wound up being a loose wire on a sensor hooked up to the Transmission. For the life of me I cannot remember the sensor name and have begun looking it up for you. It has to do with the idle control in the transmission though, I would suggest start looking into that. It took me a week before I could finally figure it out.
