I believe I put a screw in the last XJ that I had. The 2 bolts are tight that hold it to the headliner, but the back wants to pop down and cause the lens's to rattle mad! Thought about doing something similar to what I have saw in cop cars, and just get a circle light and wire in rather than the factory light so that there would be no rattle. What is everyone else's fix?

That's not going to help...It is because headliner flapping around and stuff I do believe.

 

the headliner is like a plastic/fiberboard material... Did you break it somehow?

 

Not sure. It moves up and down a little bit and causes it to rattle I guess...It was like it when I bought the jeep. I've noticed jeeps are bad about it. I figured the circle light would work great.

 

the circle light should work, however if it were mine I'd pull the headliner down and would want to see why you're having the problem, and potentially fix it and use the original light

 

I looked at it a little closer, and it looks like the clip on the back is broke on the housing, and looks like I could glue it and it would get rid of the rattle. Going to give that a whril before I order that other light.

 

Ended up plastic welding it together. I broke a tab at the back when I took it off, and 1 was already broke. Put a bolt through it and finger tightened it so that it was tight to slide back on. Rattling there is gone now. Now to work on the other rattles.
