dome light fuse
i seem to have a hard time finding a fuse that is labeled "Dome Light"
do 97+ XJs have this fuse, or is it combined with the radio fuse.

On the subject of fuses does anyone know where to find a diagram showing what the fuses are for. Mine is totally blank except for the amp marking.

This is for '97 and up. Jeep Cherokee Electrical - 1997 - 2001 XJ Fuse & Relay Identification - Reference guide to the fuses, ratings (Amps), relays and circuit information.
Hope it's helpful.

uuugh i'm starting to get annoyed with this. i bought another XJ about a week ago. i got a great deal on it, but it was made in 97 in the electrical issues part of the year. i had heard of these, but didn't know what a headache they are. only minor things are screwing up, but after a while it gets quite annoying.
i've fixed the radio already, but i haven't figured out the dome light yet. it won't work through the switches or through the headlight switch.
i better get outside and get another crack at it. so far nothing actually says dome light fuse.
and FRUGAL, the fuses should be in your maintenance book in the glove box. hope this helps.

here's a brain teaser. when i dug around while putting in a new stereo, i saw that there was a pink wire in the radio harness. and it's supposed to be yellow. then i looked at the wiring diagram for a '99, and saw that the dome light runs off of a pink wire. so, now i just gotta put 2 and 2 together, but it keeps not adding up. better dig some more.
and in a similar subject the dang thing quit running all together today.

My 1998 XJ Sport 4x4 Interior Lights Fuse Location
The only fuse that controls my 1998 XJ Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4’s interior dome lights / cargo lamp / courtesy lights is the IOD fuse (15amp small blue fuse) located ind the under- hood PDC (Power Dist Center / fuse box). That location also happens to be labeled #16 (actually F16) on one of the diagrams posted. It’s not numbered on the yellow plastic fuse socket housing, nor on the PDC cover underside diagram. It is labeled “IOD” on the cover diagram. If you look at the small fuse grid in the PDC, 3 rows of 4 fuse locations in each row, the IOD is the bottom row, last column on the right. To be clear: Not ANY of the fuses located in the interior fuse box (at right front passenger foot kick panel) controls the interior lights on my fully stock ‘’98 XJ.
