Doing 8.8 swap and am currently looking for the right one. I was wondering if i should even mess with finding one with the limited slip or just buy the open and throw an aussie or similar in later when fundage allows.

opinions............?

If you can find an 8.8 with the same gears as your front that would be the best route and the cheapest. If you can find it with the same gears and a the factory limited slip that would be awesome but they only come with the limited slip in certain gear ratios. Im going to the junk yard tomorrow to scout them out. Its the cheapest but gotta pull it out myself for 125 bucks or pay them an extra 50 and theyll pull it. I dont have the money to get new gears installed so Im just looking for one the same gear ratio(3.55) If it happens to have limited slip then someone likes me upstairs.

Im pretty sure they only came with limited slip in 3.73 and 4.10 though. My cherokee came with the factory limited slip in the D35 and its saved me many times.

i already have the 4.10s for the front. the limited slip came in 3.73 and 4.10s. dunno bout 3.55s. Limited slips really arent that great and say i do want to go locker in the future i would have to buy a new carrier. Thanks for your thoughts

If you have the know how to install gears go for it. Otherwise itll cost you 300+ bucks more for someone else to do it. Or you can install the 8.8 with dif gears and take out your front drive shaft so you can drive. Just untill you can get the gears installed

i got a buddy that used to build rear ends that gunna hook me up on install as long as i take him on my next weekend wheeling trip. Gears and carrier only cost me $90 shipped. I Love craigslist. what perches are you planning to use to mount yours? I think i am going to do ubes(u-bolt eliminators) so i can gain an inch of lift.

ill wait for a few more opinions before i go buy but i am leaning towards the open carrier for a few reasons

1. i know im guna want to do a locker later (save me buying carrier later)
2. i found an open carrier one with brakes and rotors 32,000 miles for $200
