Its the flasher for your turn signals. Not sure where it is at on the jeeps but it is usually around the fuse box area. It is usually a small box type probably black.

Edit: I call it a flasher but I guess it might be called a relay or flasher relay either way sounds like thats what it is.

Another Edit: Flasher at Napa Auto Parts

Yep, first thing I'd check is the blinker relay near the fuse box. If that's the problem, pull it and see what prong it is before going into town to buy a new one. There are two different ones for my year (94) at least: Two prong and Three. Or like you said, could be the wiring/switch inside the column. If your jeep is above a 97, I guess it's a little gray box on a wiring harness under the dash.

I would try the flasher relay first, I don't think they are that expensive, atleast then you will rule that out

Do the signal lights actually work, have you turned on the signal lights and gone outside to look at them? If so it could be the bulbs in your instrument cluster have burned out or it could be as simple as a burned out fuse

Some times a fuse may still look good but it isn't. Try replacing the fuse with a new one that you know works and just because your hazards work doesn't mean that the signals will. You have to check all of the bulbs on all 4 corners of your truck. Of even one bulb has a broken filament it can stop all of the signal lights from working

Hazards use the same bulb filament as turn signals. If hazards all flash on visual inspection, bulbs are OK. I don't recall if hazards and turn signals are on the same fuse, so the fuse change is a good idea. If it's a fuse, start checking for shorts. Close to the bulb sockets is a good place to start.
