Does this Upper ball joint look right?
I just replaced all of mine and they didnt have a gap like that, although Mine all had large boots on them, That boot looks kinda small, if there is one on it.
What is that thing on top?
Which ball joint is that and what did you torque it to?

It kinda looks like the top of the joint is not pressed all the way against the ear of the axle housing. Tough to tell from the pic. But it should be flush. The bottom side that connects to the knuckle looks fine, as long as you torqued the castle nut to spec, like Nicksan suggested. If anything, the rubber boot needs some grease, which should make it pop out a little bit more.
