ive swaped the relays already..im trying to replace the ignition switch and can not figure out how to do it or were it is

after removing the steering wheel wat do i do next to get the cover off the steering colum?

thanks man i preety much did that to an extent but it turns out it wasent my ignition switch...so now im back to square one and my truck still doesent run

the weird part is tho if i hold the key in start postion the struck will stay runing

Do you here the fuel pump running when you first put the key in and turn it on but not start it. ?

Ok let's troubleshoot this thing like this,when the key is held to the cranking position and its running ,dose it run steady or is the starter keeping it running,will it just not catch and keep running,or dose it run like normal except for the starter being on.let's ask ourselves what is deferent about the run position and the cranking position ?

if i hold the key in the run position it runs normal but i think its the starter keeping it runing but im not sure b/c i cant reall hear it

honestley i cant hear the fuel pump but i checked for fuel at the fuel rail more then once and it always there....i feel like its cuttin spark after it starts for somereason

the same thing happened to my friends xj, same year and all. if he held the key like he was trying to start it it would stay on. what he did was wire the fuel pump directly to the battery and install a killswitch in the dash to turn it on or off. worked fine after that. I dont know the correct wire or relay that needs to be replaced to fix this but that worked at least for the time being.
