If his Heep was a late production '98 it may have received a '99 CAT, part number 52019480 AF (This "AF" part number CAT was introduced in '99).

FWIW, our '98 XJ has a May '98 build date.....very late for a '98 model build.

It almost looks like a resonator.

Is your Heep an "Export" version?
Yeah, it has the secondary O2 sensor on the far side of the downstream pipe. You just can't see it in the picture since it's on the completely opposite side. The build date is 6-98.

A June '98 build date (possibly the last month of '98 production)......that could very well be a reason for the difference.

Thank you......couldn't remember the "JIT" name/phrase. Lots of things I use to do I don't remember so well anymore.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. There's a lot of things about production and retail that I'm all too happy to realize that I've forgotten.

The closer I look at that Cat I see where the outer heat shield used to be attached. You can see the three dark spots along the centerline of the Cat where the heat shield was welded on. Looks like someone tore it off puposely.
