Do your windshield wipers stand up??
Hi everyone, simple question this one. Am I missing something or do the front windshield wipers on a 99 cherokee not stand up straight when pulled up away from the windshield? I tried when replacing the wipers and they didn't want to come up. Thanks!

Anyone know if you can swap arms from another vehicle that does allow the arm to stand up and away from the windshield?

That's normal, that's annoying, and a lot of us would love to swap those arms for something that will!
I'd love to have someone jump on this thread and tell us we're a bunch of idiots because there's an easy solution if we'd just search for it.
(And then, of course, link to a thread with the solution! )

First off mine don't stay up either which is annoying. Second, I saw a guy who said that he just pulled his till it stayed up and something popped but they would stay up from then on and still worked fine. Maybe go to the junkyard and test it before doing it on one of your own....

And FML - spring blizzard left 6" of heavy, wet snow on my windshield. Just another reminder of how much I hate Jeep for not including this basic function....
EDIT:
Actually, I think I am going to spend a full day doing some "research" at the JY anyways so I might as well try and find a direct swap to make it easier and noob friendly.
I assume the wiper arms must match the XJ's in length, and obviously the splines need to match to even be able to mount them up, but anything else I should take into account?

If you think our wiper arms are bad, my Z28 has reverse hook arms. Instead of the hook wrapping towards the windshield, it wraps away from it. So I have a grand total of 2 wiper choices, both of which are horrendous.

Nice link! I think I am going to attempt this over the summer, but it does look like it takes more fab than it ought to (I might even just go to the Junk Yard and try to test fit different wiper arms to the XJ to see if anything else will work).

My 89 doesn't either. The next time I go to the yard I'll try to remember to grab a wiper arm from a XJ & test fit it to potential donors.
