the tag on the diff cover, or cracking it open and looking for a stamp on the ring gear, or counting the teeth on the pinion and the ring gear, then dividing the number of teeth on the ring by the amount of teeth on the pinion....

you can do the "spin" method but don't think its very reliable IMO....

I have been having trouble figuring out what my front and rear axles are. I have looked through quite a lot of posts, but the front looks just slightly different. This is the font axle. https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpohm6b5la...307_183512.jpg

This is the rear axle.

Rear

All Cherokee's have a D30 front axle.

After looking at rock-crusher covers I would say its a D35, It even looks like its a "35" stamped on it. Its dirty but it looks like 35 or 85 lol

This is a D35 rock crusher cover looks just like yours and has a 35 stamped on it.

This is a 8.25 cover. Has a C-8.25 stamped on it.

D35 (or turdy 5) is the weakest and avoid them at any cost.

C.25 is not too bad strong enough for 35's.

D44 is the tank of stock Cherokee axles.

Yup. The flat lip of the case hanging down beyond the cover is a dead giveaway for the C8.25.
