Do axle shafts match for a 92 and 98

Default Do axle shafts match for a 92 and 98

I was wondering if the axle shafts from a front Dana 30 out of a 92 would fit in a Dana 30 from a 98.. Any help would be awesome

Yes. Spline count and shaft length stayed the same.

different size ujoints tho so no mix and matching shafts/ stubs

they should unless the 92 is the (CAD)dana30 (center axle disconnect)... this means there are two seperate shafts in the right tube and the axle will use vacum power to engage them both when in 4wd(these are less desirable axles) 92 was the year they stoped using this axe and switched the the high pinion dana 30 that has only the 1 shaft in the right tube eliminating the week link of the CAD...

i dont know how to tell the difference by looking at the 2 but that is what to watch out for.... the solid single shafts can be swaped into a CAD axle but the CAD shafts,,well iv never tryed it but without the vacum stuff they wouldnt give you 4wd and i doubt the 2 shafts will sit right so i dont think it would work...

the 87 would be the CAD (central axle disconect) i mentioned and i dont think those will go into a 98..... in my other post i mentioned 92 was the last year of the CAD so 50/50 mabey with the 92 years but any thing else above 92 will fit flawlessly

That would be CAD and they look like this I got one I just sold lol they have beefy pass. Side upper control arm mounts.
