Default DIY intake

So I saw a thread on NAXJA about homebrew intake setups and it gave me the itch to make some mods on my day off. After 2 trips to Advance Auto Parts, 1 trip to Home Depot and 35 bucks later this is what I came up with. I seem to have a little bit better throttle response and it seems to make the engine sound a bit more aggressive. It also makes a wonderful sucking noise at idle.

Close up of the bracket that I fabbed up to keep it in place

Very nicely done.

I need to do somthing like this... But I need somthing splash proof. I killed my last motor going through a muddy rut. Not that deep, just too fast. Shot it right into my air box.
I'm thinking PVC pipe snorkle. I just haven't come up with a good enough intake\water seperator for the top of it...

Like I said. Clean mod.

I try to avoid it, but every once in a while it gets unavoidably sloppy here in Alabama...

That one's carburated right?

nope fuel injected. i just cut the stock rubber tubing after the bend so i could still use the stock piece to bolt on the throttle body.

When you get sa carbureated XJ please post up some pictures. I have seen one but can't remember what the intake looks like. BTW that is a Renix era Jeep.
