Unhappy Distributor issues?

Hi all, Ive been reading and using the forum for many years and I was a member at one point but could find my old credentials. Anyway, Everyone is great and the knowledge is priceless.
I now need some major help and don't know where to begin. I have a stock 91 Laredo 4x4 with the AW4. My dad purchased this new and I've always been in love with it and maintained it as best as possible. Last September It developed a stumble at idle and so I gave it a tune. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. All seemed fine for about a week. Stumble came back and then eventually started to stall occasionally at idle. So I ordered Standard products IAC, TPS. and cleaned the throttle body as best I could. Mind you the jeep always ran pretty good in my opinion, nice and smooth and always had power. So after those components it was good for a week. I called a local Jeep mechanic that I've used in the past to come by and check it out. He quickly diagnosed it to be the distributor and pickup coil. Ok fine, I drove it somehow to his shop just before Thanksgiving. He changed out the distributor and had me pick it up. I pick it up and first thing I notice is that it starts very strange it was like if the battery was dying and loud inside the cab as if the the carpet was removed. Ok I drove it to a store five mile away and finished and got back attempted starting it and it died , tried again and it started. I drove it straight to his shop and it did the same thing again. Anyway its a long story. Lets fast forward. The trans decided to finally go so he removed it and sent it for repair. Reinstalled and it still stalls and dies at idle. This last time I picked it up and drove it home knowing it won't ever go back to him and now it has very poor acceleration and sputters if I try to accelerate even more. The parts replaced so far are..... Trans, oil pump, Distributor, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, starter, flex plate, CPS, connecting rod bearings, rear main seal, IAC, TPS, O2 sensor, Fuel pressure regulator, Harmonic balancer,...these were all done by him. I need help guys and don't know where to start. Any and all help is very appreciated. I know there will be many questions and I will respond to all. Thanks in advance...

Not knowing your skill level...................
But did he also do a timing chain when doing all the other stuff?
If he is not a ummmmmm "good mechanic", maybe he did not get the distributor in correctly?

Turn the engine over by hand to TDC, take off your distributor cap, and look at where the rotor is pointing. It should be at the #1 wire.

Hey thanks for the response. I didn't want to write everything... My skill level is pretty good. My keeps telling me that he put the distributor in wrong but why would it have been smooth the first time I picked it up and drove it? The power was there also. Its definitely strange but I can verify that the rotor is at number one or not. Like I said I thought he was good ... I obviously am wrong. I will check and get back to you.... thank you for the response ....

Hey thanks for the response. I didn't want to write everything... My skill level is pretty good. My gut keeps telling me that he put the distributor in wrong but why would it have been smooth the first time I picked it up and drove it? And the power was definitely there also. The timing chain was not replaced. I did replace it many years ago. Its definitely strange but I can verify that the rotor is at number one or not. Like I said I thought he was good ... I obviously am wrong. I will check and get back to you.... thank you for the response ....

sorry for the double response just didn't realize how it worked....
