Default Discontinued TPS- can't find anywhere

Hello,

I have a 1989 Cherokee 2.5 Auto. Recently the throttle position sensor has gone bad, and I can't find a replacement. Scouring the internet and local dealerships has yielded nothing, all I've learned is that the part is discontinued and even the sites that say they have it don't. I don't have a mechanical bone in my body. Does anyone know where this could be found? There was a reference to it being custom available in a post from 2010, but alas no link.

The Jeep is in great condition otherwise, less than 70k miles. Retiring it is not an option, but I don't know what to do. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. The part number in question is 33004649.

So sadly both of those are for the manual transmission model only. At a total loss here...

Check to see if the one from the dodge dakota is the same I know that they used the same 2.5 in the dakota as the xj.But I don't know if it was all the same sensors, but worth a shot.

Yes, but the Dakota used a Chrysler trans while the Jeep used the AW4.

2.5 autos were indeed rare.

Cruiser, wasn't there a post a while back when a guy dismantled and cleaned his tps? Isn't it a simple slide pot? (or two?)
Also Preacher, you DO know they are adjustable?

Not that I remember.
They flat wear out inside.

How has it been determined that the TPS is bad? Symptoms?

Yep^ That's what it says. All the same on Gas 2.5, 87-90. Whodthunkit?

Also I found that other post I had mentioned ;

Since mine was on the fritz I figured what have I got to loose. Took a putty knife and a hammer and it split apart at the seams. Cleaned it out, gave it a layer of dielectric grease and epoxied it back together. Been driving a week now with no issues. Granted it might quit tomorrow but for now its fine.

Now I understand the ole saying that necessity if the mother of invention. Actually fixed one of my power lock actuators the same way.

#15 is for both auto and manual 87-90, it says. #11 is for the 86, Z7X-716 engine. And I thought I was too poor to pay attention!
