Default disconn front dr. shaft

well i may have to didconnect the frt. dr. shaft. 91 xj laredo is stuck in 4 wd. its the one w/ 2wd-4pt-4ft-n- and 4lo. have tried everything putting in neut. and backing up have been under it all the linkage looks tight dont see anything slipping or bent. been working on it for a while did the abs change over everything there went off without a hitch. bu the way a 95 cherokee is direct bolt on. but i cannot get it out of 4 wd. and i know this is a pretty common prob. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

try this... pull it into 4WD full time drive forward and at low speeds push and hold the lever into 2WD as far as it will go. let off the accelerator and blip the throttle. It should clunk into 2WD.

If that doesn't work put it in 4WD Lo then drive forward and at a very low speed (under 5mph) put the trans in neutral and shift up to 2WD in one swift motion.

The preventative solution is to adjust and lubricate the linkage and use 4WD more often.

That sucks... Well if you remove the front drive shaft make sure you are in 4WD Hi part time. If you have it in full time you will burn up your TC.
