Can I simply unplug and disable this ? I've been manually locking the doors as it is.It starts and runs fine after unplugging/removing it. It is a cherokee sport. When I took it out, it looked as if the mice used it as a toilet. There was some varnish flaking off, some of the printed circuits were corroded. I wonder if this could have contributed to the drain on the battery. when it was low, door locks would continually click

There is a guy that sales working RKE boards with remotes on ebay , I got one from him and replaced the one that stopped working in my xj , it now works great .
