That's what i did. Not that it couldn't use the fluid change, but it would be cheaper to leave it on. It would be easier to actually clean and paint the cover with it off though. You just gotta make the choice of which you prefer.

thats what im going to do. put onna of my crap blackets over it,, cut a whole tape around it,,clean it and go to town painting it lol

I just did my dif fluid and dont really feel like doing it again lol

If you don't want to take an oil bath, you can use a vacuum pump to suck most of the oil out first. Cuts down on the mess a bit...

I just cracked open a front diff, had no problems with mess...I think you are all making this out to be more of a challenge than it is.
