Differential Carrier fitment
Working on an 8.8 swap in the rear which is a 3.73. I have a 93 grand Cherokee donor with 3.73 in the front. Will the carrier bolt in my stock 1990 Dana 30 and retain the original axles? Thanks!

By stock you mean 3.55s?
TTBOMK all Dana 30 3.07 and 3.55 need the 5252582 carrier, while all Dana 30 3.73, 4.10, 4.56 and 4.88 need the 5252590. See https://www.differentials.com/techni...arrier-breaks/ re: where the carrier break is.
Therefore, as long as you take everything it should work.

Yes the 3.73 carrier will work in your 1990 axle. If you swapped axles you would be getting the weaker low pinion axle that comes in the Grand Cherokee.
Thank you for the info! My 90 has 3.07 that’s why I was grabbing the whole carrier to swap in. Sounds like it should work. New to the forum and learning about the XJ as I go. Lots of circle track racing and fab experience so I’m looking forward to dialing in the rig! Thanks again!
