Not sure if I have the chrysler or dana 35 diff on my 98 4x4 5 speed. The service manual calls out an 8.25, there is a tag on it that says 3.07 I looked at the photos of different diffs and it looks like the dana 35, need to know so that I can order a lubelocker gasket.

For 1998 ....
D35 = Jeep with ABS brakes
8.25 = Jeep with no ABS brakes
The post above gives a good visual of the cover. The 8.25 also has a very long pinion nose with a flat "pad" over the top of it. That is where the pinion snubber used to go on the old muscle cars (that used the 8.25).

It *should* be good all the way thru.
However, I have seen (and heard of) a few '01s that disobeyed that rule and had the D35 for ABS & non-ABS.
The cover & pinion description I gave are sure fire ways to ID the housing.
