Default Different Leaf Spring Question

1998 XJ, 4.0, AUTO, 4x4

I've searched the forum and can't find an answer to this one. I went to install a 2" shackle lift today and noticed that my springs are almost completely flat, no arc at all. My question is this: Is there another vehicle at the junkyard that would have the same specs as the factory springs but a little more heavy duty. I don't want to use the Dakota or S-10 leafs, because I want to use these new shackles. If not, I guess I could make a bastard pack but I really just want to do an easy swap without having to take the springs apart.

There isn't another stock pack from another vehicle that will match up with the XJ's eye holes. Splitting the pack is actually really easy to do, and gives you some great experience under your vehicle. I wholeheartedly recommend adding leaves from another stock XJ pack. Because they have the same spring rate, it will ride very well. I added the top 2 from a stock pack and netted 3" with a great ride and awesome cargo/towing ability. If you're set on using those extended shackles, I'd add the top leaf from a decent used XJ pack and you'll probably end up pretty happy.

Yeah, I may have to go that route. Right now I'm still trying to figure out how to get this thing apart without breaking anything.

Cut the ubolts and the center pin.

U Bolts should be replaced anyways. Center pin can be had from local hardware store. Check out the s10 leaf spring write ups.

Okay, thanks. If I do go with a bastard pack, where can I get longer u-bolts?

Autozone or Advance has inexpensive block kits that come with longer u-bolts, but I'd make sure the u size is correct (if you have an 8.25 they might not fit). Most (myself included) go to a local spring shop and have them made up. Just get them made longer and cut off the extra.
