Default Different engine fan

Has any body used a different engine fan because the fans blades on the xj are so cut up that they don't pull much air .

The stock fan works just fine. If it's not pulling much, it's probably because your fan clutch is shot.

No my fan clutch is almost new and the fan does make a lot of noise so it is working , If the fan blades were not cut so small I think it would pull more air .and that is not a picture of my fan but the fan blades are the same .

If it's the stock fan, it works fine. You do need to have the shroud in place. We have members here who live in hot climates (like Phoenix) and have zero problems with overheating. Unless you are doing serious rock crawling, the stock system will keep it cool. If it's not, something is wrong, and the design of the fan isn't it.

Yes I have a fan shroud and it is in good shape , I was just wondering like they install a plastic fan on the grand cherokee and it helps keep the engine tenp down . my xj cooling system is working fine but just always looking to make things work better .

Wow I would have thought that some one would have tried a different engine fan like they do on the grand cherokee . the newer fans have more blades and pull more air .

The easiest way to pull a little more air is to ditch the clutch and use a solid hub. No slippage that way

Making systems work is more than just swapping in "better" parts. More blades on a fan don't automatically mean more air movement, just like more rows in a radiator don't automatically mean more cooling.

This is true, though I always found it strange that the Cherokee mechanical fan was asymmetrical. I wonder why that is.

The newer fans have a better shape fan blade made to pull more air , the fan blade on the cherokee xj is about a 40 year old design .
