Default Did I Pay Too Much?

Ended up giving a grand for this 98 auto 4x4 237k. Runs but has a hell of a miss, suspect blown head gasket. In pretty good shape, needs a good rinse on the interior. Its higher mileage than I wanted but these virgin 97+ (or a virgin XJ period for that matter) are getting hard to find around these parts.

Plan is to get into this motor and see what the issue is. Otherwise replace the motor with something along the lines of 120k, 3" lift, jk wheels and 255/75/17's.

Even if you have to redo the whole top end its only like 600 in parts. I wouldn't call blown head gasket just yet. I would do a compression test and check the plugs. It's possible it just needs a tuneup.

I think you did good. The first thing that jumped out at me was the the drivers seat did not have any splits in it. Know seems trivial but really never see one without them. Yeah would have given up a grand no problem.

While I totally agree with you on the JK wheels and mall crawler reference, unfortunately that's exactly what this one is going to be. I dig the JK wheel on the XJ's... just wanting a clean little street Jeep for now with this one.

Of course 6 years ago this one was a clean little street Jeep, haha but one thing leads to another and I ended up with this. Ive got a party XJ already, time to have a business XJ now.

Nice BUY, even for a parts jeep as clean as it is. The mileage isn't all that bad if it was taken care of may just need a little TLC on your part. At least its a more desirable year if it has the Chy 8.25 29 spline rear and not the D35 with ABS.

If the 4X4 works and it's not rusty, you're doing OK so far.

Very solid Jeep, 4x4 works as it should. I havent found any mud on this thing anywhere. Guess it's been a street jeep its entire life.
