This. I've ran regular 2 dollar v power ngk's in all my cars since I was old enough to drive. That's been 500+ hp v8's to 350hp 4 cylinders to my current xj.

Ya everything was running before the throttle body clean. But I also repalced the spark wires/spark plugs/ distrib cap and rotor at the same time.

And you're sure the firing order is correct and the rotor button was installed correctly?

Well looks like I will be removing the plugs when I get home to investigate.

Now would they really be that gas fouled up if this was the first start up with them? I litteraly just replaced the plugs last night so the engine has only had the new plugs in and running for all of maybe 2 minutes... Today was the first start-up with them in.
I hope that phrase "older beasts like it simple" wasn't directed at me!! LOL.

New plugs CAN get gas fouled especially when the MAP has no vacuum to it. Pull one and have a look-see.

Ya firing order should be correct, I didn't change anything about it and when I was installing the new cap I made sure to do one plug at a time so it wouldn't get messed up. And yea pretty sure the rotor was installed correctly as well.

Gonna double check it all when I get off tonight.

Found the culprit... has a few cracks down the side...must not have had it seated in all the way on the first install. Luckily I saved the old one. Runs great now! Thanks again everyone for the help!!!! I swear this forum and users combined is the best mechanic ever.

I do have another question related to this though, I'm still having an issue with my idle when I come up to a red light or stop sign. When it's in park it seems to do fine, but when I come to a stop while it's in drive it wants to stale... idles around 400 or so, but when in park its about 900. Think that could be from dropping the IAC?
