I think you should be very wary of any rust spots.
Rust will kill the XJ. Start searching for it and taking care of it now or you will have a mess like mine was. Click the my waggie build leak for what rust can do to your rig lol.

Really hard to tell without actually looking it over. I thought I got a good deal on an el camino once. After buying it I found out that the frame was bent, the windows leaked, the exhaust was actually vaccum. cleaner pipes and after hitting a porcupine I found out the floor boards where completly rotted out. I never did get a state inspection. But hopefully you wont have those problems. Do check your floor boards though. I looked at a lot of jeeps that looked good until I crawled undr them. I think they are prone to floor board and rocker panel rust. Sometimes I think I overpaid for my 90 XJ. ($1000.00 w/164k) But it's awesome. Wish I had bought one years ago. Just have fun with it.

Down here a nice Cherokee can bring almost twice that. I looked for several months before I found mine. Cherokees are in demand here a lot of people use them for the beach. I looked at a 2000 Classic just before I bought mine and it was 6200.00. I first passed it up and went back a day later and it was gone. The highest price I have seen was 17,000 for a 2001 with 10 miles on it, never titled, it still had all the new car tags on it.

its a 4 door i have been driving it around all day and it seems fine. it looks like the floor boards are fine no holes or any weak points. frame was nice and straight... i did notice it needs an alignment but i can do that at my work for free.
