You think it takes skill to "cut" a new trail??
You think it takes less to do an "existing" trail??
Please come to CO and I'll show you that existing trails, or "been there done that" trails are not only more challenging, but legal!! I'm not concerned with what you think about me or anything like that, but know that the things you are doing by "cutting" new trails, affects the persona of our hobby in a very negative way. If this is private land that you have permission to make new trails on, then please disregard this post. If it is public land of any kind it is POSITIVELY ILLEGAL to leave the existing trail in any way!! As to it being funny...IT'S NOT FUNNY, when you pull up to one of your favorite spots and find a gate blocking access. Not trying to be a jerk, but making "new" trails is one of the fastest ways to get an area shut down completely. I have seen too much of it already, and don't wish to lose my right to wheel legally, because others don't care!! Please take into consideration the impact you could be having on the ares your exploring...thanks!!

Designated land in this state is clearly marked, either by private persons with posted signs, or by signs at the trail head from logging companies, geological surveyors, U.S Forestry Service, et al, which state the owner's intended use of the land and it's rules for public access. But trails like I mentioned earlier are most often legal through-ways for off-highway vehicles.
I've never wheeled in an OHV park, but that's not to say I wheel illegal areas. Legal wheeling doesn't have to mean an OHV park. Duh. There are plenty of designated trails out there, most of which began as wagon trails or railways over a century ago, or utility access roads that were abandoned decades ago. Find them, wheel them, keep the sport alive... but don't wheel lands that are clearly private property. That's just stupid.
Looks like most of you guys "get it." Illegal wheeling hurts everyone involved in our sport.
OHV parks are not the only place to wheel, but even they have rules against cutting new trails. Ever heard of Tread Lightly? If not, go look them up and see what they stand for. The famous Rubicon Trail has suffered dearly from idiot who think that going off trail is cool. Now we get $100+ tickets for being more than 25 feet off the centerline of the trail. Even when parked on solid granite slabs. So please don't preech to me about how f-ed up it is to not be able to go wherever you want.
Plain and simple, stay on the damned trail, and stay off private property!

Me and three of my friends got stuck back here all at the same time and were still stuck when the police showed up. It was some very sloppy stuff and all are vehicles were stock with street tires on them. After we got out the cops just asked us to leave. No harm done!

You guys are funny with this legal and illegal offroading stuff. 95% of the offroading i do isnt at an ORV park. I personally dont like ORV parks just because everyone as been there and done that! I like to make my own trails thats where the actual skill of offroading comes in. Iv been caught places i shouldnt have been and the police just asked us to leave. Im not saying i go tearing through someones front yard. AS FOR GAIBERTARD YOU MAKE YOUSELF LOOK BAD JUST FOR SAYING SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Every picture i have on this site is from local places i go NOT ORV parks.
Dude, you are a serious ###. If it was cool to wheel there then why did the cops tell you to leave? The only reason they didn't give you a ticket or arrest you is because it is too much paperwork and footwork to make the charges stick. Consider yourself lucky.
Please stop posting already, you are only hurting those of us who actually do the right thing when out wheeling.

woo!! Boy I didn't know what a can of worms I was opening.I understand the concern of wheeling illegally but I bet my last dollar that ALL of you have done it in one form or another.( I doubt you had permission on all property driven on) I new I was trespassing and I new I was doing wrong but it was a one pass deal..And it was a chance I was taking..I did mention posting a photo but I'll have to decline posting it now due to the sour taste it put into some of your mouths.
Enjoy,

To clarify, my comments were directed to Skater's post not yours. I don't really care too much about construction site wheeling, as it will be driven all over in some form or other, and fixed thereafter. I was, and am, concerned about "cutting" new trails, just to have something different to wheel on.
That is not a good idea at all in my book. I have no sour taste in my mouth regarding your post. Just be careful what you do and where you do it, please, for the sake of our wonderful hobby. Peace out!!

As a fairly new hobbyist, (I've wheeled professionally for big green) you have no idea how refreshing it is to hear how passionately you guys take "legal" wheeling.
I'm a big fan of obedience to the law.

Also let's remember posting info about illegal wheeling or pics of illegal wheeling is a big no no around here. We as a community of Jeepers promote only legal and ethical wheeling. So please keep that in mind when you post your wheeling experiences.. if it's not on land that is public and allows wheeling do not post it nor talk about it..
Anyways have fun and enjoy.

By the way, most the time I just wanna play nice!!
I'm merely sharing how I feel about a given topic, and possibly opening some eyes as to what can shut are way of life down. We may disagree on many things, but one thing we will all agree on, is that we love Jeepin, and want to continue to be able to do it for a very long time. With that being said....wrap your arms around yourself, and give yourself a big warm hug!!!
AWWWW...doesn't that feel nice!! Warm fuzzies for everyone!!

No but seriously, kudos to those who defend our sport. If I run into any d-bags cutting new trails or trashing our precious landscape, I kindly reach into my glove box and pull out my brief little pamphlet from the fine folks at Tread Lightly, and then I take them suckas to school.
