Default devolving intake

So with all the troubles I'm having with driveability on my 92 Cherokee 4.0 and its entire fuel injection system and computer. I've been pondering the idea of installing a quality aftermarket carburetor and forgetting the whole injection system. After all, wouldn't removing the sensors and computer make it all the more reliable in a situation or location that you can't afford your jeep to not run because of some sensor or a computer brain death. Say, the middle no where or someplace unfriendly. I do see why F.I. can be better in some cases. But I never hear people talking about wanting to ditch injection over carburation. What so you all

i would think you'd need the computer and alllllllll the wiring and sensors that come with a carbed engine. to swap in instead of the current one. so you might as well get an older Cherokee with a carb set up already in. im sure more people will chime in with a much better response than me. but id stick with injectors.

It's probably alot easier to diagnose and repair what you have instead of trying to blindly R&D a fuel system. How are you sure the driveibility (?) problems and strictly fuel related? When did you last do any baselines like a compression test?

New carb, intake, fuel pressure regulator, and countless other things will be needed. Then it won't be smog legal and won't be any more reliable than before.

Agreed. My 91 with OBD I had been stupid easy to work with and all reliable. Can't see any benefit of swapping to carb.

It's a benefit if you like the carb loading up or starving for fuel while climbing a steep incline, and not wanting it to start on extremely cold mornings.
