Hi, I bought a Delphi fuel pump for my '92 Jeep Cherokee. It is an FE0108 which is what the catalog says should fit. However, when I pulled the assembly, it is much smaller than the original so it doesn't fit in the bracket. Has anyone else done this before and experienced the same problem? If so, any suggestions?

I believe the unit you need is
Delphi # HP10148
I just ordered this one for my 1992 XJ. I'm pretty sure this is the one. I will be replacing mine on Tuesday when it arrives.

How much if any are you saving when just replacing the pump and filter sick?

$72 for complete assembly and $77 for pump with $5 for the screen.
I went with a Bosch pump open box Amazon warehouse for about ~$40 and paid $20 for a screen at Napa because Napa is always the most expensive! I didn't save much and had to solder a connector because of the previous owner's (who was a mechanic) shoddy precious replacement. It wasn't worth saving $10 and bringing fuel smell into the house to solder the assembly. Also, don't forget to replace the o-ring and lock for the seal on the tank. That is another $4.50-$7 at O'Reilly's. I remember buying the one from Auto Zone because it fit better, though. I think that AutoZone sold the gasket that was exactly like what I removed with a made in Canada part.

I ended up replacing the pump with the exact brand of pump that was already there so I knew it would fit the hangar. It was cheaper than buying the whole hangar and it was easier to get to Costa Rica. However, I would replace the whole hangar assembly next time for the ease of it. I would also make sure I had an extra fuel tank lock ring on hand since the original got warped and I had a heck of a time getting it back on!
