Hey guys. Deer season is fast approaching here in KY and hopefully i'll be able to put some meat in the freezer. I do have a question though...
My Cherokee is my Daily Driver, and I do not have a truck. IF I am able to get a kill or two this season, what is the best way to carry the carcass with my jeep? I am pretty sold on one of the reciever hitch baskets, but I am afraid the exhaust will taint the meat. The maximum distance I would have to transport the beast would be around 20 miles. Anyone have any experience with such? What do you folks think? Thanks in advance!!

the exhaust doesnt hurt it. parading around town ruins the meat. Meat gets that gamey taste from not getting prosessed quik. 20 miles aint bad, but remember after you kill it the quiker you get it in the freezer the better so dont let it lay all morning then shoot the **** a few hours then carry it in.

I carried several in mine in the back with a tarp before the lift and one after. That was fun lifting a 160lb dressed 6 pointer into the back with a 7" lift and I'm 5'6".

Good advice. Thanks guys. Gonna bust out the blackpowder in the morning. Will probably carry it on the roof, as my carpet is near immaculate and I KNOW darn well I would ruin it if I carried it inside. Good luck to you hunters this year. Be safe!
