a) dual stabilizer isn't going to do squat. Don't waste your money

b) If you are dead set on changing the box ... take a look at PSC's replacement or upgrade boxes.

I still don't think changing the steering gear box is going to solve your problem. But if you want to throw money at it .... help yourself.

I've had the same problem. If you are stock height get some new LCA's from Quadratec and put them on. That was my problem. I went through everything, all new rod ends, new JKS track bar etc.Did the LCA's and ride was excellent. you are doing a nice job of eliminating things. Take care of those two and you are going to be all set. I didn't even bother with a steering stabilizer, mine has 120k miles on it and still works. It' will only mask a problem. I didn't notice if you were stock or lifted so adjust the parts you need to accomodate any lift.

I am trying not to be mean (i try not to be like pirate), but please read everything I wrote before commenting, I will say it again, everything in the front end is tight, the stabilizer is leaking, and so is the gear box, i need to replace them anyways, I want to go with up grades, due to the fact that this isnt my 1st jeep and every jeep i have had the gear box has needed to be replaced. My wobble only happens after i hit a bump, other than that its a smooth ride, no pulling no nothing. thank you

Ok in non pirate fashion.
Since you already have already completed your own diagnosis why bother asking anyone? Obviously since this isn't "your first jeep" you know all there is to know about the workings of the beast. Feel free to upgrade everything. Spend copious amounts of coin on every component, and make sure you put new LCA's on absolutely last just for spite because they are fine and you know what you are doing already. I'll not trouble you with intel again since you know everything already and I obviously don't. After all I've only owned 3 XJ's and am now responsible for all maintenance on 2 XJ's a KJ and a YJ.
Good luck with your problems, and thank you for helping our economy.
Happy Tuesday, and you are welcome.

By chance .... how close are you to PA ?

I want to buy you a beer for that.

I'd add a few more cents ... but I have to maintain professionalism as a vendor.

so, new question, better gearbox? and double up steering stabilizer?

btw for those that dont know me, If something breaks that has been know to go bad often, I will always upgrade to better, (like putting stainless steel lines instead of the stock hoses when my hoses dry-rotted)
thats why, I just want opinions on aftermarket stuff, still new to the aftermarket world with off roading

Joe, I'm in MI Near Grand Rapids. So I guess we'll have to pass on the beverage. I'll hop over to your website and see what you have going there! That was as I get. I promise to go back to playing nice. Don't want to get a bad rep.

I was getting DW before I lifted my xj, changed the steering stabilizer and it fixed(masked?)it. Now that I lifted it I can feel it slightly trying to wobble when i hit a hard bump. So judging by my experience, you may 'fix' it by changing the steering stabilizer but the problem may reappear as you start adding more lift or as time goes on.

Let us know how it goes.

my MAIN problem with dw was with the trac bar, but now on the highway around 65 mph or so, the DW will come back, i think it is an alignment / tire issue. (i've known how to control it w/o it happening)

x2 on the steering stabilizer, if you want an easy replace w/o trying to look into the actual problem you could def mask it, but it is HIGHLY not recommended.

here is are 2 sites where it shows common problems to check on.

Still working out the wobble? Forgive me if I haven't read all the posts, the net is messing with me tonight and I am playing a whole game of solitaire between pages. but if I am understanding your question properly, you are wondering about aftermarket steering boxes, correct? As I posted a couple of pages back, I think part of the problem is in your steering box. I too have gotten tired of putting on used boxes and having them leak or worn out. So I ponied up for a new one. Mine is AGR, and wasn't cheap. There are two that will fit your XJ. There is the stock replacement box. Also you can get one with a bigger ram in it that fits things like the V8 Durango. Either one will bolt right in. Although I would suggest that if you get the Durango style box that you brace the frame with a plate on one or both sides since this box is stronger than the frame was designed for. There are several brands you can get such as AGR, Howe and Flaming River.

Let me share one of my favorite vendors:

www.summitracing.com

They will beat any advertised price and are very nice to deal with.

The other is www.4wheelparts.com

They own 4WD now, so maybe youcan expand your horizons a little. They also advertise they beat anyones price and I know that they will. When I bought my high steer they absorbed the shipping and sales tax and beat Summits price substantially. I also got my new AGR box from them.

If you have any more questions PM me

Sorry Joe

Didn't mean to slight any of the vendors in any way. I have not parused the vendors here and my apologies. This post will take me 20 minutes because the pages load so slow. That doesn't encourage me to check everything out at the site. I know that others have complained as I have about that. Perhaps you also could give them a heads up about that. I have, and cited that I can play a whole game of solitaire while the page loads, each time. So to do a new posts search, click on something, post, return back through what I just wrote and then get back to new searches is a long process. I am not sure of what kind of financial arrangement you have here, but if you do and if it was me, I would strongly encourage the owners of the server to correct this. It is a server problem.

I already mentioned it to Jon. Seems to be random at my end.

Sometimes I have to refresh to get it to load (stops loading at a partial grey screen). Also not getting topic replies or email notifications all of the sudden .....

Mods/Owners .... ya listening.
