I have a question hope you guys can help me out! I just bought a 44 out of a 78 ford f150 the front has the leaf spring wedges cast into it if I cut them off will I have cut all the way through the axle tube?? It almost looks like there is another tube over the axle tube will cutting them off work???

The 78 model doesn't have a tube inside the wedges so you either have to replace the tube, buy a complete truss mounting bracket system, or work around them reinforcing where you can.

 

The cast wedges are not worth using.

Sell it and get a HP D44 with the welded-on wedges.
