Default Dana 44 question

Will any year 44 out of a xj fit under my 96 xj sport do you think the d44 and d30 is a ok set up with 4.10 gears

i believe so......what size tires are you running? 4.10's are more for bigger tires like 31's or 32's.

Yeah a d44 is a nice find. Its getting harder and harder to get a hold of one. It will bolt up, but you will need to get new u-bolts and the plate on top. The tube diameters are different from the d35 to the d44. 4.10 gears are bad, but it depends on what your plans are with the xj. If you are planning on going to 33's I'd get aleast 4.56 to 4.88. If you are going to push it and go 35's then I'd go 4.88. As metlic stated, 4.10 are good for 31 to 32's. I would figure what your long term plan for your xj is so you don't have to pay someone twice to set up the gears.
