What rear axle do you have now? 35 or 8.25?

Shortened drive shaft. Suspension at normal ride height.

Normal length driveshaft is fully compressed after dana 44 install. Suspension at full droop.
I have a SYE and that was a Tom Woods shaft, so it might be a little different but I had to have more than 3" removed to center the slip on the shaft for normal ride height. Pictures show were with a 6.5" RC lift on the back.
You will need larger U-bolts if swapping out Dana 35, can't say for sure about the 8.25.
Good Luck with your axle swap.

I had a 8.25 when I put my 44 in. I personally had to play with the hardlines because mine were trashed. Other then that it was a direct bolt in. Get new u bolts because the older ones will stretch out and break.

Its from Teraflex. Part #4354410 it was $559.99 before shipping. Cadillac Elderado calipers. Its not the cheapest way to go but it was really easy to install.

yes, you need new u-bolts. there are different sizes for d35, d44 and c8.25.

you need a new brake diff block for the brake lines. the d44 breather goes through the middle of the diff block, where the d35 is bolted there and the breather tube is off the axle tube.

also, yes, the pumpkin is longer in the d44, so the d35 shaft will be too long. you need to figure out what size you will need if yours is lifted. measure at ride height to get your measurement.

otherwise, it is basically a bolt in axle. shock mounts and spring perches are the same, as long as it's an xj44. if it is mj44, the spring perches are on the bottom as they are a spring under truck.
