Are you by chance from oklahoma? If so I know which D44's you are refering to..
As for the axles I do believe the 77's are full size known as the SJ and the over all width of the axles from hub to hub is about 4" wider then the XJ models of the cherokee's.. Basically you would have to have the axle tubes shortened and so for and modified for the front end components as well as the rear end shock mounts and leaf pads...So really not worth it IMHO..The D44's you need are from the 87 XJ's which are for the rear end as the XJ's as far as I know did not come with anything but the D30 axle..

I think someone on here has...There are lots of write ups all over jeep forums on doing this..basically you jsut have to relocate the leaf spring pads, shock mounts and then add I think 1/4" spacers on both sides and you are set..
not a good deal for those axles, there are better options out there
they will take more money and work to run them than they are worth.
pass side drop= you need a passenger drop t-case, which means you need to fab up a custom crossmember and exhaust, and find room for your front driveshaft, as well as modify your tranny hump to make it fit.

Way too much for a set of Wagoneer axles, there is a Brothers Auto repair just east a mile or so from I-35 on N.E.23rd that has a rear Dana 44. I put a Explorer 8.8 rear in mine with the Super 8.8" Superior Chrome-moly axle kit and Auburn Locker in the rear and its plenty tuff for 460 H/p Chevy Stroker that I run.
