Default Dana 35 to Chrysler 8.25 Swap

Somebody is selling a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle and I was wondering if it would be worth the swap? Not sure what the spline count is.

It should be. What gears in it? Either way, it is stronger than the d35, and just shy of a d44 from what I have read

basically a direct swap and worth the time and effort. just make sure you get the larger u bolts and be sure to get the driveshaft too

I think the 8.25 has a longer snout, so it requires a shorter shaft.

True. But with a 3" lift, the stock shaft works great.

And the added bonus with the 8.25 is it's easy to convert to ZJ rear discs. There are a coupla real nice write-ups on it.

Isn't it the same thing to swap discs to a d35?

I don't know. I do know that on the 8.25 you don't have to deal with bearing removal, spacers etc.

Ended up getting the rear axel for $100 and it came with a truss welded on so overall if it doesn't work out I still got a good deal out of it.

It's a 3.55 27 spline cnt.

Alright so me and my brother opened it up to see what it's like inside, And I noticed a "C" shaped metal piece inside the axle. Any ideas? It's In the picture below under the gloves.

c-clip... unfortunately some 8.25's were c-clip axles... which is a weak point.
