I have the d35cclip in the rear and took it to a shop to get a new pinion yoke, crush sleeve, and nut properly installed. I had already trashed one yoke (tabs that hold ujoint in place busted off). This was with the stock style driveshaft. After the driveshaft/yoke failure I installed a SYE and ordered a custom ds from tom woods. In part because it was leaking on the pinion side and because I wanted to make sure everything was fine inside I took the axle to a local shop to have it inspected and install a new yoke with all the hardware as mentioned above. To do this I understand you have to remove everything inside to get the pinon seals on and preload set. They told me that they want to replace all the bearings in the diff and not just everything for the pinion. With a limited budget currently and plans to scrap that axle in less than a year Im hesitant to drop the money to replace all the bearings provided everything is undamaged. I looked up on quadratec a rebuild kit which is listed at $99. The shop gave me a rough estimate of $700-$800 including parts and labor. It just seems a lot of $ to drop on a 35 without any upgrades and that a junkyard axle rebuild could be done for aroudn the same price.
Questions
1. Is that too high or seem reasonable to replace all the bearings?
2. Is it 100% necessary to replace all bearings provided I will be upgrading with a different axle in a year?

Heck yeah its to high I wouldn't waist your money on that d35, just go to a pick and pull and find you a Chrysler 8.25 from a 98 up xj its a far better axle and is 29 spline. Or get a Ford 8.8 you can pick either up for less than $200 bucks I'm sure, here were I'm at they sell for $150.00
