Dana 30 parts interchangeable?

Dana 30 parts interchangeable?
Are the ring and pinions from a CAD d30 useable in a hp d30? The reason I ask is I bought a parts xj with a ford 8.8 in it but don't know then ratio. If it's the same as my d30 I'm fine but if it's a different ratio then I need to change the front and I don't want a CAD in there. If that's the case I will just swap R&P's.

yes the CAD and the HP dana 30 use the same ring and pinion. btw to find out your ring and pinion size, count the teeth on the ring gear then divide it by how many teeth are on the pinion gear. for example, 41 teeth on the ring gear and 10 teeth on the pinion 41/10=4.10 you then would have a gear ratio of 4.10:1 then you can determine what size front gears you need.

well i did it the cheater way. marked the d/s and marked the tire. made 1 full revolution of the tire and counted the d/s revolutions. just over 4 so i'm guessing 4.10's woo hoo.
now i have heard some people say that the dana 30 CAD axle tube is stronger than a hp d30. is this true? not talking about the 2 piece axle vs. the single piece axle as i should be able to just swap the one piece axle from the hp30 to the CAD30.
i think swapping the one axle shaft and installing the converted CAD30 with 4.10's into my xj would be easier than removing the ring and pinion and installing that into my hp30.
anyone have any experience or info about this?
