That sounds about right. I bet they just put their biggest impact to it and hammered away!

I set my torque bar to 150 ft lbs (which is the max for it) and then torqued it, then got my impact and tightened it a bit more.

Update: got my hands on a friends oxyacetaline, heated the nut cherry and couldn't budge it. I tried a couple of cycles of heating and letting cool and heating again. Trying to break the nut free every time. No good. I snapped my new breaker bars (both of them) and decided it was time to break out the big guns. I know a guy who ownes a boat yard and has a 1" impact driver. I put the caliper and tire back on, limped her over their and a couple minutes later, SUCCESS!!! Then I limped her back home with the axle nut hand tight, hopped in my wifes car, off to sears again to replace both my breaker bars AGAIN. And preceded to finish the job. Thanks to all who helped me.

were you trying to break it loose while the front end lifted? im doing a locker tomorrow and have been suggested many many times to break it loose with the wheels on the ground. said its almost impossible once the weight is off the front end.

just food for thought.

No problem, I'm glad you finally succeeded! I told you an impact would work

I was trying with the front end lifted wheel off and locked in 4wd. My rims don't allow for the socket to get through with the center cap off.

Just the stock classic rims. I never actually tried to pass the socket through, but from the looks of it, it was a no go.
