Plugs, wires, injectors, valves, distributor, rotor, random fluctuations in the space time continuum...
Need some more details about year, engine, what codes it might be throwing, and any other symptoms, and we can probably help you narrow it down.

How have you determined that 2 of the cylinders are not firing?

You can't hardly fart next to a 2000 Jeep without it throwing a code. If you had cylinders not firing you would have a CEL staring you in the face.

No disrespect to your dad or his auditory diagnosis but like others have said, if it weren't firing on 33% of it's cylinders... there would be a code. Something as simple as forgetting your gas cap will throw a code so if entire combustion chambers are just along for the ride...

There's no codes or engine light, but either way there is something wrong with the engine...2 days ago it started to sound like complete crap and it runs really bad
