I'm putting a new head gasket on my 93 Cherokee 2.5 Liter or 150 ci engine.

I need to find out the head bolt torque Specs. & torque sequence.

Any help would be great

 

Torque specs are on my site, in the Tech Archives. Torquing sequence is, starting from the passenger side centre, a clockwise spiral - like this:

8 4 1 5 9

7 3 2 6 10

#7 must have the threads coated with PTFE pipe dope, and torque to 22 pound-feet/45 pound-feet/110 pound-feet (#7 gets 100 pound-feet.) Torque the screws to the second step twice per FSM (once to get there, again to verify,) and I like to torque to final step twice as well.

NB: Caution: Cylinder head bolts should be reused only once. Replace the head bolts if they were used before or if they ahve a paint dab on the top of the bolt. (quoted from FSM.) Like the 242, the 150ci uses a variation on TTY head screws, and the screws will usually fail if they're torqued to full spec a third time.

 

As per manual torgue is 1988 and on
Step 1 22 ftlbs
Step 2 46 ftlbs
Step 3 110 ftlbs except #8 which is 100ftlbs
start with the middle bolt on the drivers side and work your way out #2 straight across,work in a circle. # 8 is the last one on drivers side.

10 6 2 3 9
8 5 1 4 7

 

So you are not confused 7 and 8 are the same.
