Default Cutting out when cold

I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee 4.0. I have only had it for a couple months and have done a lot of work on it to get it running properly (sensors and maintenance) It starting cutting out at low rpms when the engine was cold. It would have no power and after 5-10 seconds it would go back to normal and not have any more issues until it sat again. I had recently replaced the o2 sensor but had heard they can be picky with those so i unhooked it too see if that was the issue. I left it unhooked for over a week and it never did it once so i assumed that was the issue. I ordered a ngk/ntk o2 sensor for it. I put it in the other day and have only drove it a few times but it seemed to do that same things just less than before.
Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I have had the codes ran and nothing comes up.

Thanks

Pre or post udate model?

So, when you disconnected the O2 sensor, nil issues, hooked a NGK sensor in there and again issues?

Yes I had a brand new o2 sensor in for a few weeks and this issue started. Unhooked it and the issue went away. Thought maybe I got a bad o2 sensor so ordered a better brand and installed it 2 days ago and hooked it back up and the issue returned but the couple times I have drove it it doesn't seem as bad as before.

These darn sensors are real PITA and as much as we like to save some money it seems that the OEM one's may be the cheapest and least problematic in the long run.

This may not be your issue at all but just saying this has bit me twice so far and I knew better from reading here

Well the first one i bought was the higher end one from the local part store. I thought maybe because it wasn't oem it was just being picky. The second one i bought is what i researched works the best which was an ngk. That is what i had read works the best for these. I am wondering if there is something with the wiring causing the problem but i am not sure.

I drove the jeep again today and had the same issue. When the engine is cold it sputters after about 20 seconds of driving it. It only does it for a few seconds usually but today it seemed to do it more than normal. It sputters and has no power at all. It has a new o2 sensor, map, tps, plugs and wires, cps. It works fine whenever I unplug the o2 sensor but the gas mileage seems to go down alot.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? It is getting very frustrating!

Could be a cat issue. If your back pressure is wonky the sensor can register weird. Check the catalytic converter for a rattle, or see if its all old and crusty.

That's a red flag right there.

I will check the cat when I get a chance. I believe it is the original exhaust, it developed a small leak at the muffler here recently also.
