ok i need a rearend for my 98 xj. i think mine is the 29 spline. all the junkyards around here want $300 for one but i found one right up the road from me for $100 but its from a 96 and i think they are 27 spline. i know the 27 spline are a little weaker but will it work in my jeep?

 

The only thing you may have to swap over are the parking brake cables. Other than that it will be a direct bolt in.

Just don't forget to double check the gear ratio and make sure it is the same as yours.

 

Late model 96 did come with the 29 spline. not sure exactly July? of 96 is when Jeep went with the 29
