Cruise Control Inop
Putting "factory" cruise in my '99 4.0, started with the stuff under the hood, found the connector and hooked the vacuum up no problem. I bought the right side switch off ebay, and had to build the left one for now. It has a 4.3k resistor in the "set" circuit, the "on-off" button has no resistor. I get about 5V across the circuit when no buttons are pressed, so I'm pretty sure I modified the non-cruise clockspring correctly. It has the correct wiring right up to where the harness that would go to the switches should be. I wonder how much Chrysler saved ordering that version instead of putting cruise-compatible clocksprings in everything...?
I get nothing when pressing any button at speed. Tried "on-off" at about 40mph, followed by "set", got no cruise function and no light on the dash. There shouldn't be a missing/blown fuse, as the harness for the modulator and for the switches all ends up at the computer, right? I realize there are more than one set of resistance values, but hope I received the correct value as the seller on eBay stated the switch I bought from them was for my model and year.
